Awareness explains robotic surgery to the public, to patients and to their families: what it is, how safe it is and what it offers patients. Its planned work includes public campaigns, events that face the community, and the expert speaker series.

This is how the department explains robotic surgery to the public. Each part lights in turn; choose a number to see it again.

  1. The surgeon sits here and controls every movement.

  2. Its arms hold the camera and the small instruments. They move only when the surgeon moves, and they work through small cuts.

  3. On this screen, the team in the room sees the same view as the surgeon.

  4. The surgeon looks into a stereo viewer. The camera has two lenses and sends one picture to each eye, so the surgeon sees depth.
